I love spicy/hot foods. Like make-me-cry-and-holler-and-dance-around hot. Wasabi is in a category of it's own. The omg-this-is-so-hot-I-think-I'm actually-dying-my-face-it-burns category. Good stuff. Now traditionally wasbi is served as a condiment with sushi and other Japanese food. But I don't stop there. Oh no. With the help of a little wasabi mayo or sauce I can add that burn I love to everything!
There's a reason why rice is consumed by millions of people around the world every single day. Actually there's four. It's cheap to buy. It's fast to cook. It's easy to cook. It tastes awesome with EVERYTHING. Sweet, sour, salty, spicy, tangy, fruity...the possibilities are strait up endless. I love cinnamon rice with milk in the morning. Stir fry is delish! And you can make it with just about anythng (including left overs).
Well now I have to mention stir-fry. How can you not love it? So flavorful!! You can add just about any combination of vegetables, seasonings, sauces and then of course RICE. I love making stir fry out of left overs. Add some onion, peppers, shallots, orange juice, soy sauce, edamame beans, and RICE and you will have a meal to die for. Or for super easy egg fried rice add onion, frozen peas and corn to cooked white rice and cook up an egg in the middle. It's that easy. But seriously the possibilities are endless. Are you starting to see a trend here?
Tea!! I love tea. Ok technically it's not a food BUT it's delicious, healthy and cheap as dirt. My favorite. I used to be more of a coffee fan but I've grown to love the light flavor of tea. Peppermint! Chamomile! Awake! Breakfast! Lemon! Ginger! Peach! Acai! Chai! Blueberry! Orange! Spearmint! Much more! I love the brand Stash...I always get it at WinCo, it's about $2 a box and they have a huge selection. Tea is so relaxing (chamomile) and flavorful (peppermint) and loaded with antioxidants (acai, blueberry). And there is nothing easier to make. Boil water. Add tea bag. Drink. Enjoy. And yes, this is my tea cabinet.
I love the flavor of lemons. Tart, acidic, just a little sweet, lemons can add great flavor to just about anything. Add it to hot tea with honey for a simple fix for a sore throat, squeeze lemon in to nearly any soda based alcoholic beverage (yum), add lemon juice to water for a quick body cleanse, and all practical uses aside, they are bright yellow, cute and make great kitchen decorations.
